Renovation with heart and mind
Brillux Home Story: Katharina and Roland
Crooked but charming: embracing the imperfect.
Katharina and Roland immediately fell in love with the half-timbered house from 1764. And even after ten years of renovation, this love remains just as strong.

“The whole thing is alive. And it’s not over yet, it just keeps going.”
Roland
Houses are sometimes like people: you fall in love with them at first sight. That’s what happened to Katharina and Roland when they first saw “their treasure”. And even though the house was in a miserable condition, they both recognized the charm hidden inside. A labor of love for them both!
Katharina and Roland tell you the whole story here.

Historic facade
Typical German timber framework outside, Swedish vacation home inside
What is it really like to live in an old, historic house – one that has a unique story and a distinct character? The answer: like a typical half-timbered house outside. And like a little paradise inside. Katharina and Roland realized their dream of a creative home and, in doing so, created their own style.

Exterior
Welcome to paradise!
The historic facade of the house is protected, which is why the classic timber framework has been preserved. The entrance gate and many other elements are light blue, Katharina’s favorite color.
Interior
You can have ideas. Or you can simply do it.

Everyone has their own space.
Roland is a passionate painter and has set up his own studio in one of the outbuildings. His pictures can be found everywhere in the house.
