In a remarkable team effort, the architectural firm, painters and plasterers, along with the experts from Brillux, revitalized a historic residential and commercial building in Freiburg. Non-original elements were removed in consultation with the monument preservation authority. The result: the building has returned to its former visual glory – but is better equipped for the future than ever, thanks to perfect craftsmanship and high-quality materials.
Exterior
More than a facade
The painters found themselves facing a facade whose renovation required more. As is typical for older buildings, the substrate here had been repaired in many different ways over the past 100 years. The facade showed visible defects due to weathering and underlying defects due to faulty renovations. This is why, in the first step, the experts removed damaged old coatings, renders and sealants. After that, the path was clear for the perfect reconstruction.
Interior
Preserving originals with great expertise
Plasterwork, doors, walls: in addition to the wall paint, this villa, which is over 100 years old, also regained its charm through the perfect restoration of the original style elements. The tradespeople achieved color accuracy across the different materials. Brillux mixed the color shades exceptionally precisely, creating a harmonious overall impression.
Original and accurate in every detail
In this monochrome setting, the carefully restored plaster elements, wooden doors and built-in furniture now come into their own.
Indirect lighting for a warm ambiance
Instead of overloading the interior with too many lights, the architectural firm and the building owner primarily opted for built-in spotlights and indirect lighting.
The newly added dormer windows and skylights provide plenty of light from outside.
