The Leising farm in Münster is a familiar name to some – not least because of Aunt Hermine, who took over the farm, which dates back to the year 900, in 1930, and lived there for decades. When Susanna and Peter found out that the farm was for sale, they didn’t hesitate for long.

“In the evening, when the light touches the wooden beams, it feels like the house is whispering stories”
Peter
Kitchen, dining and living area
The renovation called for skilled craftsmanship: carpenters specializing in timber framework construction worked on the historic beams, and concrete components were poured on site. A carpenter friend even traveled from Ettlingen, around 500 kilometers away, to work on the kitchen. He built tailor-made drawers that look minimalist at first glance, but offer additional, hidden compartments behind the large fronts.
Guest bathroom
From the wipe-resistant Sensocryl paint behind the sink in the guest bathroom – instead of tiles – to the tailor-made dog house in the living room for the couple’s four-legged friend who they rescued from Romania: the attention to detail runs through every room.
Garden
Susanna is a passionate gardener. Her flower paradise is designed so that there’s a the perfect place to sit at any time of day – depending on the sun’s position. The areas are arranged by season, and you really do feel like you’re on vacation.
Upper floor
The attic floor is Susanna’s favorite spot today. Originally planned as a studio, it could eventually be converted into a living space for a carer. Now it is her retreat, from where she can watch deer, horses, and other animals in the fields. And for Peter there’s a projector, so that he can relax on the cozy sofa and watch the Bundesliga.
It’s nice to finally be home. Let us show you what it can look like. It’s time to get started!
Susanna and Peter’s color concept is deliberately calm: muted, natural shades that blend harmoniously into the historic timber framework. All walls were painted with a mineral silicate paint from Brillux – open-pore, eco-friendly and indoor climate-friendly: the perfect choice for historic buildings. One moment that Susanna remembers: “I didn’t know how many different shades of white there were before – when the painter applied the test coats to the wall, I was completely surprised.” The unobtrusive color palette lets the room breathe and emphasizes the texture of the old beams.

The lighting concept comes from the couple’s daughter – an interior and lighting designer – and transforms the rooms into atmospheric spaces. Warm light emphasizes the old beams, targeted spotlights in the floor add accents, and each zone has its own atmosphere.
The former horse stable has become a sustainable, unique home – rooted in the farm’s history and enriched by masterful craftsmanship. For the couple, it was important not only to renovate a house, but also to honor Aunt Hermine’s heritage. They have succeeded in doing this very well.
