Wooden homes that follow Norwegian tradition are loved far beyond Scandinavia. In Buggingen, in south-west Germany, the Rießle-Preuß family fulfilled this dream over two decades ago. For many years, their wooden home had a white facade. Yet time takes its toll on even the nicest home fronts. In this case, stains of resin discolorations could be seen.

Professional painters from S.L. Malerservice in nearby Waldkirch were contracted to give the family home a fresh lick of paint. The painter Marcel Lange used Lignodur FlexGuard 871 (previously known as Deckfarbe 871) for the job. Henrik Eiling had consulted with him in advance about the benefits of the product.

“Our solution is particularly impressive thanks to its good covering power”, explained the technical consultant from Brillux. Another benefit is its good water vapor diffusion. Thanks to its good color shade stability, it can be used in many different ways to create a wide range of designs. “For the weather side of houses, we also recommend the use of Lignodur FlexGuard 871 in Protect quality”, added Eiling.

After putting up scaffolding, Lange’s staff first stripped off damaged old coatings with a scraper. They then applied Lignodur Contrabol Aqua 250 (previously known as Wood Preservative Primer 250). Next, they treated the damaged areas with the cationic-isolating, pigmented primer. The full coat was applied on the following day.

During actual painting, the painters first focused on window niches, roof undersides and outer posts. Using the Hydro Paint Roller 1288, they applied Lignodur FlexGuard 871 in white. They then carefully masked the edges where the blue areas would later begin.

Marcel Lange then applied the Lignodur FlexGuard 871 in the color pigeon blue using the airless spray method. He finds it to be particularly suited for this. When applied in thick layers, it does not form droplets. In practice, that means that the painter on the scaffolding sprays the paint and a teammate then directly reworks it with a Hydro Paint Roller 1288.
