When it comes to thermal insulation, we talk about an “external thermal insulation composite system”, or ETICS for short. A system of different, coordinated components that vary depending on the substrate and in terms of structural and building law requirements as well as the choice of insulation material.

Roofs are usually well insulated already thanks to insulation between rafters. However, the floor is often ignored. If the floor in the attic is uninsulated, the warm air will rise up to under the roof, requiring continuous reheating from below. The same principle applies to the basement, but in reverse. Instead of above the floor, the insulation boards are installed directly on the ceiling area from below.
