Mold loves damp places. However, high humidity in rooms such as bathrooms or bedrooms can never really be avoided. But there is a way to buffer it to keep the wall surface permanently dry. To make sure mold spores don’t stand a chance, the substrate must have a high sorption capacity and a high alkalinity. The Brillux KlimAir system provides both.
Thanks to its sorption capacity, the KlimAir system absorbs moisture from the room air in the form of condensate on the wall surface and releases it back into the environment when climatic conditions are dry. This partially compensates for or buffers extreme fluctuations in humidity levels. In combination with the high alkalinity of the overall system, mold is removed from the growing medium for growth.
The thin mineral KlimAir panels made of expanded glass granulate are water-vapor permeable and very pressure-stable. The KlimAir system makes quick and efficient installation possible.

Step 2
Apply KlimAir Isolating Strips 1867 all around. This is necessary because the KlimAir panels are subject to small hygric length changes. The isolating strips effectively eliminate “crackling noises”.
Step 3
KlimAir Adhesive Filler 1868 has very good adhesive strength and is easy to apply with a notched trowel.
Step 4
Apply a thin layer of adhesive plaster to the KlimAir Panel 1866. Insert the KlimAir Panel 1866 into the adhesive bed. The panels must be completely moistened with adhesive. Cavities must be avoided by firmly pressing or tapping (e.g. with a rubber float).
Step 5
The KlimAir panels are applied edge to edge. The edge area of a panel must be coated with a thin layer of adhesive plaster before inserting the next panel.
Step 6
The panel joints can be filled immediately after gluing. Projections can be easily removed or sanded the next day after drying.
Step 7
Cross joints must be avoided when gluing.
Step 8
After drying overnight, the entire surface is coated with the KlimAir adhesive plaster.
Step 9
After sanding, the surface is finally treated in the system build-up with silicate coatings or with Klimasil 1908 on successive days.
