When a balcony needs to be repaired, there are many things you can do: from reprofiling the cantilever slabs or parapets to creating edge connections, waterproofing and applying a sealer. However, before you start, you should answer the following questions:
- Is there concrete damage to the balcony slab that needs to be repaired?
- Are simple repair measures sufficient or does the structural integrity need to be inspected because the damage is too extensive?
- Is there moisture damage? What is it caused by?
- Is there an old coating or tile covering that may need to be removed?
- What do the connections to the adjacent rising building components look like? Are there any leaks here?
- What type of substrate is present: concrete, cement screed, mastic asphalt?
