Photocatalysis is a simple chemical process that breaks down organic substances such as dust and soot particles. When exposed to sunlight, the titanium dioxide contained in the paint releases electrons, which quickly and thoroughly stimulate this process. Photocatalysis in detail
1. On the surface, UV radiation releases negatively charged electrons in the photoactive titanium dioxide.
2. Oxygen molecules in the air absorb negative electrons.
3. Negatively charged oxygen meets water molecules in the air.
4. This produces H2O2 and O, i.e. hydrogen peroxide and oxygen.
5. Organic deposits on the surface are oxidized by the resulting hydrogen peroxide and thus decomposed.
