What factors can affect color fastness?

  • Moisture and UV radiation: condensation and rain, together with sunlight, put strain on the coating and can cause the color pigments to fade.

  • Pollutants and acid rain: they too attack facade coatings and can change facade color shades.

  • Soiling level: car or industrial exhaust fumes as well as algal or fungal growth on damp facade elements soil the facade surface and darken the color shades.
