Historic buildings

Reference project: Thürwachterhaus, Ingolstadt
A historic building complex in the heart of Ingolstadt has been transformed for the present day with finesse. The former urban farm – comprising a residence, barn and courtyard – has managed to preserve its identity while also being remarkably revitalized. Distinctive elements were retained, new ones were harmoniously incorporated. Especially striking: the bold red courtyard gate makes a confident statement.
The facade surfaces were coated in Ultrasil 1901, while the wooden components – from the stable gate to the waste shed – were finished in Lignodur Solvo Guard 885 in a characteristic green shade. In the courtyard, a seating area coated with Floortec 2KPurolid T 876 – reminiscent of the former manure pile – ensures a pleasant atmosphere. The careful choice of materials and unobtrusive design demonstrate how renovation can be both historically sensitive and contemporary in design.
This exemplary work represents a modern approach to historic structures, driven by the successful collaboration between the property owner, architects and the skilled trades. The result: a complex that not only preserves history, but also keeps it alive.
