Historic buildings
Nominated for the Brillux Design Award 2025
Reference project: Prettiner Straße, Herzberg/Züllsdorf
Where cracks once penetrated the render and ivy had almost completely covered the building, today there is again a prestigious structure bursting with historic charm. Built in 1926, the hunting lodge in Züllsdorf was restored with great sensitivity and exceptional craftsmanship – partly following historic models and partly bringing a fresh new design style to the building.
The current color concept lends the facade a new sense of nobility: the heavily damaged, formerly lemon yellow surface has been completely restored. After repairing cracks with Silicone Brush-on Filler 910, the rendered facade received an elegant, warm gray coat of Silicone Facade Paint 918. White-accentuated niches and adornments provide a classic structure, while wooden components such as the front door and shutters were coated using Lignodur SolvoGuard 885 in a grayish dark green: a harmonious combination of restraint and presence.
The successful facade design not only restores the hunting lodge’s architectural quality, but also serves as a model for the sensitive treatment of historic structures. It is clear that with professional care, the right materials and a desire for quality, historic architecture can be both preserved and carried into the future.
