Historic building, Valdobbiadene, Italy
The Palazzo Colomberotto on Piazza Marconi is one of the most distinctive buildings in the historic center of Valdobbiadene. As part of a careful facade renovation, the characteristic appearance of the building was preserved – with particular attention paid to the deep cracks and the uneven surface caused by aging.
The mineral renovation and leveling render Rasante minerale 3553 was used to repair cracks and smooth the rendered surfaces. It gives the surface a subtle texture that appears handcrafted and is reminiscent of traditional chalk techniques. The prime coat of Fondosil 1903 and the top coat of the water-vapor-permeable, dispersion-free mineral paint Extrasil 1911 complemented the renovation concept perfectly – technically efficient and unobtrusive in design.
With respect for the historic building fabric, a facade design was created that blends harmoniously into the surroundings and at the same time impresses with its quality. The renovation is an example of how historic architecture can be sensitively but effectively enhanced using modern materials.
