The new headquarters of tire retailer Emigholz GmbH in Bremen make a striking architectural statement, combining clarity with a sense of movement. The building unfolds along the street like an accordion, with a rhythmic composition that nevertheless creates a sense of calm overall. This balance is achieved through a carefully restrained color scheme in four perfectly coordinated shades of gray, lending the building a sense of understated elegance.
The new building sets high standards in both technical performance and design: the facade was fitted with a mineral-based external thermal insulation composite system u MW Top Insulation Board 3857. While Mineral Lightweight Render G 3679 was used on the upper floors, a distinctive combed-render finish was applied to the base of the building. The final coat of Extrasil 1911 with TSR formula provides long-lasting weather protection and helps reduce heat buildup.
The facade’s horizontal articulation is further emphasized by approximately 540 meters of custom Brillux profiles made from noncombustible expanded glass granulate, also coated with Extrasil 1911. The sophisticated interplay of smooth surfaces, textured finishes, and recessed profiles creates a dynamic play of light and shadow, giving the facade a changing appearance as the daylight shifts. High-quality craftsmanship and meticulous attention to design.
The new Emigholz GmbH headquarters stand out for their clean architectural lines and understated color scheme.
The carefully coordinated color scheme, developed by the Brillux Color Studio in Hamburg using four shades of gray, adds depth and visual balance to the building’s dynamic, folded form.
At the base of the building, textured combed render provides a durable finish and creates a striking visual feature. The combed-render finish, like the rendered surfaces across the rest of the facade, was created using Mineral Lightweight Render G 3679.
Custom profiles made from expanded glass granulate add distinctive design accents to the facade’s horizontal articulation. Like all the rendered surfaces, the profiles were given a final coat of Extrasil 1911 mineral coating.
